School Tour

As you know our school tour is taking place this Friday the 15th of June and we are going to the Zoo.

The children are to be dropped off to school at the normal time of 8.30am and picked up from school at the normal time of 2.20pm.

The children will have their school lunches with them that day, but as it is a long day we advise you to pack an extra snack and plenty of water/drinks.
**They are also allowed to bring a few treats with them.

***Keep an eye on the weather also and dress accordingly. Apply suncream on your child in the morning and pack a coat/raincoat encase of rain during the day as the tour is mostly outside.

If you have any questions please send me an email.

Thanks,

Rachel

Hi All,

For the month of June, homework has been reduced to just one or two things per week.
Reading will continue every week and it is important that you listen to your child reading every night. We have recently learned about the dictionary so please try to encourage your child to look up the meanings of new words when reading.

Last week the class had to draw a picture and write a sentence about their favourite place outside.

This week there is a little more written work. I have given the class a set of interview questions for them to ask a grandparent or an older family friend. I have also asked them to look up photo's that they might have of said person and any other information they can find.

Once they have gathered the information at home we will then put together their grandparent project in school.

They do not have to do the project at home. They are just gathering information. We will then organise the information on card during school.

If you have any questions please send me an email.

Thanks,

Rachel

** Biodiversity Week **

Hi all,

This week is Biodiversity Week in the school! The class will be a hive :-) of activity! The children are busy putting together their Bee projects and have been learning about the importance of recycling and the dangers of plastic. We have written a letter to McDonald's  encouraging them to rethink their packaging and have provided them with some creative ways in which they could do so. The children have also started to think of ways they can reduce and  reuse packaging and have started their waste free picnic posters.

This week the school is taking part in Spring Clean up on Wednesday. 1st class will be cleaning up along the river bank and beside the school from 9.30 - 10.30. If any parents would like to volunteer at this time please get in touch with me.

Also on Friday, Dave Treadwell will be coming in to talk to the class about pollinators and bees. Weather permitting this will take place in Fr Collins park. If parents would like to volunteer to help out at this workshop please contact me. It will take place around 8.50/9.00 till 10.20.

The weather is suppose to be good this week so please make sure your child is wearing appropriate clothing i.e. sun hats and has sun cream on.
